MacOS - Catalina Users

Version History:

11/19/19 - First Release (QR)

9/23/20 - Added Big Sur note (QR)

NOTE: Do not use this driver if you are running Big Sur. This driver is for Catalina only. If you are running Big Sur and can’t connect, please see this article.

A recent Mac OS update to "Catalina" may result in connection issues between the Pocket NC and your Apple computer. This is due to the most recently published Beaglebone drivers not being compatible with the new version of the Mac operating system.

A new driver has been developed to solve this issue but it is a version that has not been officially released yet. If you would like to use the unofficial version of the driver, it is available for download at the bottom of this page.

If you would prefer to wait until the official version of the driver mentioned above is released, here are a couple of workarounds to get you back up and running.

  1. Use a different computer. One running an older version of Mac OS, an older version of Windows 10 (the newest version of Windows 10 is also having some issues), or Linux should still work.

  2. Connect to the machine using the Ethernet port and a network connection. This can be done by following the steps laid out here.

We will update this article as soon as we can confirm that there has been an official release of the driver needed to solve this problem.
